Bring everyone together for a memorable Norfolk Broads holiday at Sheriff House, a beautiful period property set within more than three acres of private grounds beside the River Bure in Wroxham.

Believed to date back to 1904, this impressive house is full of character and original features, with generous living spaces, extensive gardens and over 100 metres of direct river frontage.

Whether you're planning a special family celebration, a multigenerational holiday or simply a chance to spend quality time together, Sheriff House offers a wonderful setting for making memories.

A grand house with room for everyone

From the moment you arrive, Sheriff House has a wonderful sense of space and character.

The large open-plan kitchen and breakfast room is a natural gathering place, whether you're preparing a leisurely breakfast or catching up over coffee before a day exploring.

A beautiful conservatory stretches along the house, filling the space with natural light and offering lovely views across the gardens towards the river.

With plenty of comfortable lounge seating and a large wood-burning stove, there's also somewhere cosy to gather on cooler evenings.

The house offers a choice of bedrooms across two floors, making it particularly well suited to larger families and groups of different generations.

Three acres of gardens and your own stretch of river

One of Sheriff House's most special features is its setting.

The house sits back from the River Bure within more than three acres of grounds, giving everyone space to spread out, explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Wander down through the garden to discover over 100 metres of direct river frontage, with wonderful views both upstream and downstream.

The waterside decking and garden furniture provide a lovely place to sit with a drink, watch the boats passing and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Norfolk Broads.

And don't forget to wave to the passing boats – it's something of a Broads tradition!

For keen anglers, there's plenty of opportunity to enjoy private river fishing from the garden during the open season, while the property's riverside mooring offers added appeal for boating enthusiasts.

Something for the younger guests, too

With so much space indoors and out, Sheriff House is a fantastic choice for a family holiday.

The separate annexe area includes a children's playroom, complete with table football, a video games console and comfortable seating.

It's a great space for younger guests to enjoy themselves while the adults relax elsewhere in the house.

The extensive gardens provide another wonderful feature for family holidays, although children must be carefully supervised around the river, private dyke and lagoon.

A wonderful base for exploring Wroxham

Sheriff House enjoys a peaceful position on Beech Road in Wroxham, with the beautiful River Bure running along the edge of its grounds.

It's an ideal location for discovering the Norfolk Broads, whether you're planning days out on the water, exploring nearby villages or simply making the most of having such a lovely setting to yourselves.

Reviews for The Sheriff House

13 February 2025

We have just returned from a weekend stay at Sherriffs house, it was with friends and family to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. There was 14 of us, all couples but it was more that adequate for us all. The kitchen, dining room and lounge were lovely and roomy and the bedrooms were really comfy. The house itself had loads of character and the snug added a little extra for the younger ones. The only thing that we weren’t really impressed with was the water pressure especially when flushing the toilet and even when washing up in the kitchen. We didn’t have great weather but that didn’t dampen our stay.
