Drakes Dyke
On the banks of the river Bure in Wroxham come across this gorgeous upside down house with stunning river views. This property is situated between the main River Bure and Wroxham Broad so water in every direction.
It’s an upside down house so all of the living accommodation is upstairs with the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs. The upstairs living area is accessed by a metal spiral staircase (be careful with small children) that opens up into the high vaulted ceilings and open plan living area with fabulous views of the river and all of the river traffic going by including the local wildlife. There is a balcony on the side of the property with views over Wroxham Broad.
The master bedroom is unique in itself, imagine waking up to those patio doors that surround the bed in the morning with the sun streaming in, open them up and listen to the calming sound of the river and its residents. I’m not sure there is anything more perfect whilst you on are on holiday, let’s hope the kids don’t get to you first !!
The property also benefits from a large decked area for those lazy bbq’s in the garden and a boat dock which is suitable for the storage of a day boat* (if you intend to explore the Broads further). At night you can sit outside on the decking and enjoy listening to the night calls of the wildlife, feeling like you are on the edge of the wilderness with the added benefit of river fishing from your own private garden (in season, licence required).
The beautifully light and spacious property is the perfect get together house.

Reviews for Drakes Dyke
6 adults and 2 dogs family holiday…. Struggled to find the property on arrival but then a kind resident explained where it was. Signs for weak bridges put me off driving any further but we got there !! Allocated parking for 2 cars but I reckon you could get 3 on there.
The trolleys for luggage were very much needed as you have to proceed on foot for just over 5 mins walk to the property.
On arrival I did think that the house looked very run down from the outside (loads of cobwebs) and could do with a lick of paint. Inside was better! Great views from the upside down house and we had the master bedroom which had amazing views of the river.
The shower in the en-suite was tricky to get right either too hot or too cold but after a few days we got it right.
Comfy beds. Lovely and peaceful. Spiral staircase is noisy.
Long walk to the bins to dispose of rubbish ! We would walk the dogs and take it with us.
Loads of wildlife visitors, ducks, geese (and their babies) muntjack deer, bats, swans and the resident heron (he had a toe missing so we knew it was the same one everyday).
BBQ was outside but wasn’t clean and had seen better days so we didn’t use.
Some of the family used the games room (pool table tennis and darts)
30 mins walk into Wroxham, some nice places to eat and drink. Roy’s of Wroxham always worth a visit to grab essential grocery items. Tesco about 4 miles away.
We hired a day boat for the week and visited lots of nice pubs.
There wasn’t any visitor book (couldn’t see one) for us to leave comments.
