Unique ways to explore Norfolk
We’ve talked rather extensively about exploring the county of Norfolk on foot, by boat, and on two wheels, but there are some rather unique ways to take in the very best sights. Have you ever considered riding a Segway through this green and pleasant land, for example? Here are some of your new favourite ways to make the most of gorgeous Norfolk…
From the treetops
You may well have wandered through woodlands and taken a moment, every now and again, to glance up at the canopy that covers you, but have you ever looked down on the blanket of leaves and sampled the birds’ eye view? At ExTREEme Adventure, Weasenham Woods, and Go Ape!, Thetford Forest you can. These outdoor adventure centres offer high ropes, zip lining, real tree climbing, and woodland walkway experiences that will allow you to look down on your surroundings – literally.
Whether you’re whizzing around Blickling Hall Estate, taking part in a race experience at Snetterton, or brushing through the forest at the Go Ape! Centre, few activities are as fun as this; the Segway is fun, fast, and suitable for adults and children.
Take to the skies
Perhaps a little pricier than other ways to see the sights, nothing will compare to the view of Norfolk from amongst the clouds; head up, up, and away, in a hot air balloon, or board your very own chopper for the afternoon and prepare for a panorama like no other.
Travel by train
Not unusual, per se, but certainly an unforgettable experience, there are few modes of transport as exciting as a steam train. Board a train on the North Norfolk Railway, hop aboard the Bure Valley Railway, or sit in comfort in a carriage along the Mid Norfolk Railway and be sure to take photographs as you travel through the countryside.
However you see Norfolk, we hope you have a wonderful trip, and that you’re inspired to come back for a self-catering holiday soon. There’s so much more to see.
