Toad Hall is a stunning property in a beautiful location. Access is over a sometimes muddy field, about a 10 minute walk for an able-bodied person. A trolley is situated at the cottage to help carry your belongings. Roadside parking is available but it is NOT in the boatyard. I found they were very happy to show you where to park & the route to the cottage.
We have just returned from our stay at Toad hall from 11th August - 18th August 2017, Toad hall itself was delightful and the surrounding area was lovely and peaceful. The only things that marred our stay were that previous guests had left the bbq dirty so we had to use a disposable one instead and we had quite a lot of trouble with the main oven as it kept going out, it may need a service. and a couple of people in our party didn't like the soft beds but that is just as personal preference. Overall our stay was great and would recommend it to anyone and would return for sure. Lovely cottage.
Absolutely great week at Toad Hall, September 23-30th 2016. After arriving earlier than planned, the cleaner was still working to get everything ready for us. What a really nice lady she is, she welcomed us in and allowed us to get our fishing rods set up on the garden while she carried on with her work. We then helped to take the washing back to her car (which is quite a walk) then returned to unpack. Toad Hall as everything to make for a very comfortable stay, plenty of space and all the peace and tranquillity you could wish for. It is such a peaceful retreat we look forward to returning again.

"We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday at Toad Hall. It is fairly well equipped (a microwave oven would be a useful addition), very clean and comfortable and we would certainly recommend it. Although we enjoyed the walk across the field from the Boatyard car park to get to Toad Hall it might prove challenging to anyone with mobility issues or who is not very fit. We will definitely be going back again."
Although the weather was indifferent Toad Hall provided a very comfortable quiet week away.
The variety of passing boats and wild life added to it`s location.
The provision of a boat would add to its appeal.
Sturdy footwear would help for inclement weather when using the track.
A little piece of heaven. It was great to be far away from any neighbours so we didn't have to worry about the kids making a noise as they ran around the place! The boats passing during the day gave everyone plenty to look at but it was was simply fantastic to be there in the evening when we had the river and views of the surrounding meadows across to Thurne Windmill all to ourselves (well, shared with the sheep and cows anyway!).
If you are looking for somewhere that feels like a treat for the whole family then this is it. On our first morning waking at the property the children couldn't believe how eerie the cattle grazing in the mist looked and we loved the tranquility of the early evening when we saw lots of bird-life from the sun deck. With great fishing from the front lawn, amazing walks from the back door and being just minutes from Hunters Yard where it's possible to hire old-fashioned sail boats - Toad Hall really is the perfect Norfolk Broads experience.
