The Basics
Horning is situated on the River Bure in the heart of the Norfolk Broads about 10 miles from Norwich and 3 miles from Wroxham. The family friendly village provides good local amenities including 3 riverside pubs (all serving food), restaurants, Chinese takeaway, tea room, deli, butcher, newsagent/grocery store, post office, hair & beauty salon, swimming pool and fishing tackle/bait shop. Fine sandy beaches are a 20 minute drive away.
Sailing & Boating
Some of our properties have their own mooring and there is a slip way nearby for Trailer Sailors. If you bring your own boat, or you hire one locally, there is so much to discover and explore. For peace and tranquility or uninterrupted sailing, head for the Black Horse Broad or Ranworth Broad. If you want to go with the flow head up river to popular destinations such as Wroxham (1 hour cruising) or Potter Heigham with it’s famous bridge (1½ hour cruising). Throughout the year there are many sailing events from Horning including the challenging annual Three Rivers Yacht Race.
Fishing
Each of our properties has either riverside or waterside frontage offering the angler the opportunity to fish the River Bure in comfort. However, if you believe variety is the spice of life your national fishing licence (in season) covers all of the Broads which you can explore by road or river.
PLEASE NOTE FISHING CLOSED SEASON IS 15 MARCH TO 15 JUNE
Relaxing with the wildlife
From the comfort of your own private grounds you can marvel at the grace of the heron, be amused as the ducks come into land and ponder at the destination of the geese in formation. No wonder the Broads has always attracted bird and nature lovers because it’ s all there right in front of you in all its unspoilt glory. Please visit www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/norfolk
